With all the 5 megapixel cameras on offer today it can be difficult to choose one to suit your needs. For those who require a decent camera, but don't want to fork out for unnecessary features, the LG KC550 could be the perfect choice. Touted as the cheapest 5 megapixel camera phone on the market, the KC550 is sure to worry its competitors. We take a closer look to find out if there's a catch to this great deal.

Physical Aspects

Despite its keen pricing, the design of the LG KC550 certainly hasn't been affected. It sports a simplistic, classy look, with lashings of chrome and fingerprint-loving glossy black plastic. It shares the same slider layout as LG's range-topping Secret, and the sliding action is just as smooth. Happily, the KC550 has rectified my main gripe with the Secret, and provides a 'proper' tactile 4-way d-pad and enter button. It seems that cost-cutting has its perks.

Either side of the d-pad you'll find the device's softkeys and call/end keys, as well as the dedicated cancel button. Oddly, the cancel button didn't function as expected. Rather than offering a quick way to delete things, it is instead used to go back one screen. However, when entering numbers or text, it resumes its expected role as a backspace button. The red 'end' key also doubles-up as the device's on/off button.

The front of the device is otherwise dominated by the 2.4" screen, with its bright 262,000 colors and 240 x 320 pixel QVGA resolution. The display appears to be the same as the LG Secret's, but without touch-sensitive capabilities. However, unlike the Secret, the KC550 doesn't have a mirrored finish over the display, making it much easier to view in bright environments. Just above the display is a discreet slit housing the earpiece. Overall the front of the device is very simplistic and stylish - very LG.

The rear of the phone is clad with grippy soft-touch plastic, so you don't have to worry about fingerprints here. There are also a few slits for the loudspeaker, next to the camera's brushed metal effect lens cover. The lens cover slides across with a satisfying click into place, but is fairly stiff, so you might find yourself opening the phone instead. Opening and closing the lens cover automatically activates and deactivates the camera.

The left side of the device is home to a single headphone/data/charger port, covered by a plastic door that slides across to keep grime out. The right side is a little busier, with a covered microSD slot, zoom/volume keys, and the camera shutter button. At the top corner of this side you'll also find a neat lanyard fixing. The microphone and button to unclip the back panel can be found on the bottom of the device.

Giving the fascia a push upwards will reveal the KC550's large 12-key keypad. It sports an attractive checkered design, with some keys being black, and others in a grey spun metal effect, similar to the d-pad's enter button. The keys are perfectly flat, but offer good feedback with a satisfying click.

The LG KU990 Viewty is a true powerhouse packing a mass of high-tech goodies under its hood: the impressive 3" touchscreen display with 240 x 400 pixels resolution, the HSDPA 3.6 Mbps capability, the stereo Bluetooth and the highly intriguing 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, which is also capable of capturing video at 120 fps. Feature-packed and exquisite, the LG KU990 looks set on the fast track to success and we were more than happy to get our hands on it.

The LG KU990 Viewty was only recently announced but it somehow fails to cause the same stir in the mobile community as the 5-megapixel Sony Ericsson K850 or the Samsung G600. Yet, as we managed to find out, it's a highly sophisticated device, that's quick to impress and certainly deserves attention.

The KU990 Viewty is not the first 5 megapixel cameraphone by LG. There are a number of reasons why their first attempt - the LG KG920 failed to gain noteworthy market share - the high price, the controversial swiveling design, and the slow camera interface, just to mention a few.

Back to our game

The LG KU990 Viewty measures 103.5 x 54.4 x 14.8 mm, which makes it about the size of iPhone, Sony Ericsson P1 or even HTC Touch. It weighs 112 g, which is not really much considering its performance characteristics. Designwise, it's almost certain that people would inevitably compare it to the Prada phone by LG. They share the same form factor, large screen and Flash UI, but are still totally different and this time Prada has no involvement in the project.

The front panel of the handset features only three hardware keys - the green and red Send/End keys and the correction C key, which is used as either backspace or for going one level up in the interface menu. In the top right corner, the secondary VGA camera for video calls can be found. The left side of the Viewty hosts the charger/headset/data cable universal port (much like the ones used by Samsung). It's ingeniously hidden under a sliding cover.

The bottom and top parts of the headset host no controls. The only point of interest at the bottom is the microphone pinhole, while the top offers the back cover release button and the stylish hand or neck strap eyelet.

The left side of the KU990 is far more interesting in terms of controls, since it incorporates the camera shutter key, the hardware keylock button, which is otherwise used to take pictures with image stabilization, and - finally a hardware slider key, that changes camera modes between still camera, video camera and image gallery.

The backside of the LG KU990 stunningly resembles the looks of a true digital camera. The 5 megapixel camera lens with Schneider-Kreuznach optics has a hardware jog wheel, that controls the digital zoom. It can also be used for setting the exposure compensation and brightness, as well as for zooming on pictures in the gallery, on office documents and web pages, as well as for controlling the volume. Around the camera lens, which has no protective cover of any sort, you will find the strobe flash, the focus assist light and the loudspeaker.

Removing the back panel reveals the 1000mAh Li-Ion battery. The SIM card slot and the microSD memory card slot are accessible only after you've removed it. As to battery life, there are no official figures but our test revealed that under heavy duty usage, the handset will last about 2-2.5 days with a single charge. The relatively good news is that DivX playback doesn't exert any extra strain on the battery. For example, the battery lasted enough to allow us to use the phone moderately for one full day and watch a 2-hour DivX movie later on in the evening, before it went completely flat.

The LG KU990 is really easy to handle and the touch-centric form factor is of no hindrance to usability. It feels nice and comfortable to hold. Speaking of touch though, it has got to be noted that the KU990 Viewty has a different touch-sensitive display than the LG Prada phone. While the Prada screen only accepted commands when touched with a bare finger or through a thin cloth, here you can use your fingers, the enclosed stylus, a pen, or even your doorkeys (certainly not advisable!). The display deals well under bright sunlight, though no display by whatever manufacturer has so far managed to beat Nokia in this respect.

The LG KU990 Viewty comes with an original stylus dongle, that doesn't plug anywhere into the handset. It is attached to the handstrap eyelet instead. It's quite innovative and looks great, but we're not convinced that it's that convenient after all, to have your stylus dangle alongside the handset in everyday use.

Black Berry Storm2 9520

The original Storm was BlackBerry’s first attempt at a touchscreen phone and while it wasn’t a complete disaster it didn’t quite conjure up a whirlwind of adulation either. We’ve known several Storm owners and none of them were overly complimentary about the handset’s long term performance. The main issues were down to the build quality (the side-mounted plastic buttons falling off), the bizarre decision by BlackBerry to not equip the handset with Wi-Fi and the lack of responsiveness from the SurePress screen.

The first of those two issues seem to be solved on the Storm2, but while the new SurePress screen used on this model has been greatly improved, we’re not sure it’s going to prove any more popular than the previous version.

Looks-wise the Storm2 is almost identical to the original, but there are some subtle differences here and there. For example, while the four buttons for answer, menu, back and end are still mounted on the front of the phone, they’re now integrated into the clickable part of the SurePress screen, rather than being separate to it. Also the chrome band that used to run around the outer edge of the phone has now being given a much darker finish so it blends in nicely with the glossy plastic finish that covers much of the rest of the handset (although thankfully the battery cover is still made of metal). Similarly BlackBerry has dumped the plasticky, side-mounted buttons and instead replaced them with rubberised ones that are better anchored into the chassis, which should make them much more durable in the long run.

Nevertheless, some niggles with the design remain. Despite having a 3.5mm headphone jack, we don’t like the way the jack is mounted on the side of the handset as it tends to snag when you’re taking the phone in and out of a pocket. Also, the phone feels quite thick and heavy, certainly much more so than the iPhone or Hero.

The handset runs the new BlackBerry OS v5.0, which includes a number of useful additions. One of the best of these is the updated cut and paste functionality. If you want to cut text, say from an email, and paste it into the web browser you now just have to call up the BlackBerry menu and choose Select. This places two selection tabs that you can position to mark the areas of text you want to cut. Although the system is similar to that used on the iPhone the selection tabs are much larger and more finger-friendly so they’re a good deal easier to position. There’s also updated Maps software and you can now access the clock and connections menu directly from the home screen.

RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700

It's been about a year since the original RIM BlackBerry Bold made its debut, and while it remains a very solid device, it's about time that a flashier, faster model took over the reigns. And that device would be the RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700. Not only is it T-Mobile's first 3G BlackBerry, but its sleeker design and performance enhancements make it a valuable addition to the carrier's lineup. The Bold also offers UMA support for Wi-Fi calls, a faster processor, and an updated OS. The only major downside of the smartphone, and one that plagues all BlackBerry devices, unfortunately, is the Web browser. It simply doesn't stand up to the competition in terms of ease of use or functionality. That said, if you're after a powerful messaging smartphone, the RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 certainly has our vote of confidence. It offers more speed and features than T-Mobile's other BlackBerry offerings and gets the upper hand on the T-Mobile Dash 3G with its UMA support. As of press time, T-Mobile did not reveal a specific release date but said the Bold 9700 would be available in time for the holidays for $199.99 with a two-year contract.

Design

The RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 looks nothing like its predecessor. Gone is the wide, masculine body, and in its place is a more svelte, compact smartphone that should fulfill RIM's hope of attracting both men and women, and consumers and professionals. At 4.29 inches tall by 2.36 inches wide by 0.56 inch thick and 4.3 ounces, the Bold 9700 is certainly more pocketable and is even smaller and lighter than the BlackBerry Tour. It feels solid in the hand and features a similar leatherette backing as the original Bold to give it a classy touch. In addition, the chrome edges and lines between the keyboard rows add to the handset's appeal.

Given the smaller size, you do lose a little bit in screen real estate. The Bold 9700 has a 2.44-inch display (compared with 2.75 inches) but its 480x360-pixel resolution at 245 pixels per inch certainly keeps things clear and sharp. It's the same as the Tour's, and while we did miss having the larger screen when viewing Web pages and videos, overall we had no complaints. Text was easy to read, and images looked crisp with vibrant colors.

The user interface is largely unchanged, though BlackBerry OS 5.0 brings some slight refinements. For example, the calendar has an easier to use system for creating new appointments with drop-down lists, and you can set your alarm clock using a spinning wheel. The home screen and main menu will be familiar to previous owners, though; you can customize the home screen with different themes and background images as well as six different shortcuts.

Below the display, you get the standard BlackBerry controls: Talk and End keys, a menu shortcut, and a back button. However, like the BlackBerry Curve 8520, the Bold 9700 replaces the traditional trackball navigator with an optical trackpad. The move from trackball to trackpad is surprisingly easy, and we were impressed by its responsiveness (you can also adjust its sensitivity to your liking through the Options menu). Scrolling through lists and navigating menus feels smoother using the trackpad and you can select an item simply by pressing down. RIM plans to use the trackpad in all its future devices, and that's fine by us. Like we mentioned earlier, the transition from one to the other felt easy and natural; plus, perhaps this will eliminate the issue that some users have had where the trackball stops working for whatever reason and needs to be replaced.

Like the Curve 8520, the Bold now features an optical trackpad instead of a trackball navigator.

Just below is the Bold 9700's 35-key full QWERTY keyboard. Though not as spacious as the original Bold's, the large and comfortable buttons are ideal for typing both short text messages and longer e-mails. The individual keys have raised ridges so they're easier to use compared to completely flat buttons, and they provide a nice springy feedback. If anything, they were just a touch stiff to press, but overall, we're very happy with the keyboard.

On the left spine, there's a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microUSB port/power connector, and a customizable shortcut key. You get a second convenience key on the right side, which is designated to the camera by default, and a volume rocker. The top holds a mute and lock buttons, and the camera and flash are located on back.

Our review unit from RIM included an AC adapter, a USB cable, a 2GB microSD card, a wired stereo headset, and a belt holster in the box. However, T-Mobile's final sales package may vary. For more add-ons, please check our cell phone accessories, ringtones, and help page.

Features

The RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 marks the first 3G (UMTS/HSDPA 900/1700/2100) BlackBerry for T-Mobile. The carrier's been on a tear lately to launch its 3G network in new markets, which now reaches 170 million people in more than 235 cities nationwide. It still trails behind the other major service providers in terms of coverage, but it's certainly good to see T-Mobile ramping up its efforts and bringing more 3G handsets to the lineup, particularly full-featured ones like the Bold 9700.

Behold II

Despite the name, the Behold II has little in common with Samsung's original Behold. T-Mobile likes to re-use names to a fault, and while the original Behold was a TouchWiz feature phone, the Behold II is an Android smartphone. The similarity lies in the TouchWiz UI, which Samsung has thoroughly bolted onto Android 1.5. Both share a good 5 megapixel camera and a touch screen, but beyond that, they have little in common. While the Behold II shares a similar, though larger, form factor with the MyTouch 3G and the same 528MHz CPU, the similarity ends there since the MyTouch runs stock Android while the Samsung's is much modified by TouchWiz.

The Behold II is a large phone, though slim since it lacks a slider keyboard. It fits fine in roomy pockets but isn't compatible with tight jeans. It's pleasant looking though not sexy or chic. The front face features a faux brushed metal texture over the control area and this helps prevent finger slips. The round d-pad doesn't captivate us the way HTC's trackball does on their Android phones. It's bit hard to press the outer directional rim though the center action button works well. As with the Omnia II on Verizon, we have to wonder why Samsung devoted a precious front button to their cube launcher which is more eye candy than substance. But we give back points for the large and easy to operate call send and end buttons and the dedicated camera button. The back is fingerprint-loving black plastic with a nice looking world map in bronze (much more recognizable than Verizon's attempt at a world map on their version of the HTC Touch Pro2).

Phone and Internet

The Behold II is a quad band GSM phone with EDGE and 3G HSDPA On T-Mobile's US 1700 and 2100MHz bands. Call quality is good and volume is adequate for all but very noisy places, but 3G reception is a little below average among T-Mobile phones. The phone supports Bluetooth handsfree devices and headsets as well as A2DP stereo Bluetooth headsets and headphones.

The Android browser is very good, as always. Like the iPhone and Palm's webOS phones, Google's web browser is webkit-based, and that means it can render desktop sites with good fidelity (minus Flash). Being a Google phone, it sync perfectly with Google services including gmail with contacts and Google Calendar. The phone also works with POP3 and IMAP email accounts but it can't sync to MS Exchange.

Performance and TouchWiz

The Behold II's 528MHz Qualcomm CPU has become an old standby on Android and Windows Mobile phones. It's not going to impress anyone but it's up to the task of handling stock Android and Windows Mobile software. But TouchWiz proves to put too much of a burden on the CPU and our usual zippy Android experience lags here and there. The phone isn't as responsive as the MyTouch 3G running standard Android, nor is it as fast as the HTC Hero on Sprint. It's not dog slow, but it pauses and balks here and there; something we don't often see on Android. The phone has 320 megs of RAM which is quite a lot for any smartphone, including Android (256 megs is more the norm with the Hero having 288 megs to keep HTC's Sense UI moving smoothly). There are approximately 200 megs of free storage space where you'll want to install applications since Android doesn't yet support installing apps to a microSD card. T-Mobile and Samsung include a 2 gig microSD card in the box so you can store photos, videos, music and more.

TouchWiz feels a bit over the top here: Android is a fresh new OS and it doesn't need that much help in the user interface department. Perhaps it's meant to ease TouchWiz users migrating from the Samsung Behold and Samsung Memoir. That said, if it weren't for the slowdowns and unwarranted skinning of Android apps, we'd complain less. It's not hard to use TouchWiz on the Behold II, but it's actually easier to use a standard Android phone since TouchWiz creates confusing duplications, and Android already has very capable downloadable widgets so the TouchWiz widgets don't add much.

Camera and GPS

Thumbs up for both the very good 5 megapixel camera and the GPS that works with Google Maps and TeleNav. Google Maps is free and is fantastic for finding POIs, while TeleNav offers good turn-by turn directions. The GPS got solid fixes even in urban locations and TeleNav's directions were cogent and clear.

The 5 megapixel camera has an autofocus lens and an LED flash. The camera took even better shots than the already good Samsung Behold, and video is among the best for US phones.

Conclusion

We love Android and we adore Samsung's vibrant AMOLED displays. But we could do with a little less TouchWiz on top of Android: it slows down the phone and it creates confusing redundant functionality. But if you're a Samsung feature phone user upgrading to your first smartphone, you just might appreciate the familiarity of TouchWiz. The phone is solid, well made and has one of the better cameras on the US phone market. With WiFi, a GPS that works with both Google Maps and TeleNav and Bluetooth with A2DP stereo, the Behold II has its merits.

Samsung is expanding quickly in the cellphone industry and while most of its phones are mid-range or high-range smart phones, they also cater to the lower end of the scale. Recently, Samsung launched two new cellphones with support for mobile TV in the form of the Samsung Corby TV and Samsung Metro TV. The Samsung Corby TV is slightly higher end but both the Corby TV and Samsung Metro TV phones are set to be priced at sub Rs 10000.

The technical specifications for the Samsung Corby TV smart phone include features such as a 2.8″ TFT capacitive touchscreen with 240 x 320 pixels resolution, 50 MB internal and microSD for expandable memory, Bluetooth, USB connectivity, 2 MP camera and Stereo FM radio with RDS.

The Samsung Metro TV mobile phone on the other hand is set to feature a 2″ QVGA TFT display, microSD slot, 2 MP camera, Bluetooth, USB connectivity and Stereo FM radio with RDS.

Samsung I6500U Galaxy is a new phone powered by a fast 800MHz processor, and runs on the Android v2.1 OS. People are very happy with such a phone.

Samsung I9000 Galaxy S

Competition is certainly one of the things that make the Android OS so much fun. There are already several manufacturers involved in the Google OS game and each of them has already released a flagship that aims at the peak of the food chain.

Samsung might be coming a tad late to the party but they are obviously entering with a bang. The I9000 Galaxy S packs a display of the greatest technology that the mobile world has ever seen and a pretty big one at that. A snappy 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU, HD video recording and a sweetly slim waistline make it look like the real deal in the eyes of every real geek.

Let’s take a look at the other features that the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S puts to the table.

As you can see the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S specs sheet is long enough to be considered high-end. What’s even better is that it manages to put something on top, namely the large 4” Super AMOLED display, which should become the new thing to beat if it has the performance of the Samsung S8500 Wave unit.

The TouchWiz-like Android customization still had some performance issues on the Galaxy Spica so we will have to see if those are fixed for the Galaxy S. We are also yet to check out how the new 1GHz Samsung Cortex A8 CPU compares to its Snapdragon peers in the Android environment, but we have a good feeling about it.

At any rate the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is a fine piece of mobile technology and we are as eager as you to see if it will actually manage to top the charts or end up in the chasing pack. So let’s not waste any more time and head to the hardware part of the preview where we’ll examine the Galaxy S ergonomics.

What is available for the user that wants a strong camera in their phone? People are taking more and more pictures with their camera phones but other than maybe uploading them to blogs, there isnï¿½t much that you can do with pictures that come from most camera phones. You cannot print the pictures even from a cell phone camera that is of megapixel status because the quality is still too poor. This is where the Nokia N90 comes in to play. Normally I do not take and extensive look at products that are not Windows Mobile or Palm OS based, but I decided to review the N90 for a number of reasons. First it is always good to see what products that are competitive with those you support and like. The second reason is because of the specifications and the unique camera hardware. The N90 packs strong hardware into a device with a signature camera lens.

Basic Internals
Powered by a TI OMAP processor running at 220 MHz, the Nokia N90 includes 48 MB of RAM and 32 MB of ROM. The N90 can be expanded by RS-DV-MMC cards and can connect to other devices through Bluetooth. If the included memory is not enough, Nokia includes a 64 MB memory card with an adapter to make it a full SD/MMC card. The 352x416 pixel screen supports 18-bit Color, and a large external display. For battery life, the N90 includes a 760 mAh battery. The device is 4.41" x 2.00" x 0.94" and weights 6.10 oz. For an operating system, the N90 uses Symbian OS 8.x. The Nokia N90 runs on GSM/GPRS Tri-band dual mode 2.5/3G with WCDMA and EGPRS devices.

Device Style
While the Nokia N90 is a basic flip-phone in many ways, it includes a double hinge. Instead of simply having a hinge at the top, the top of the device has the camera built into a module at the top. When opening the device, the camera first slides under the bottom of the N90 butting the front face at a 90 degree angle to the back, and then the front face opens to near vertical. The camera module can also spin near 360 degrees when the device is closed. The front face of the device can also twist just over 45 degrees. The front face of the device includes a large LCD external display. The top of the N90 has the power button and speakerphone speaker. On the left side of the N90 is the sync port connectivity (which comes with a cover) and the power adapter port. The right side of the device includes the RS-DV-MMC slot, directional pad for device control when the device is closed, and a record/snap button for the camera. The keypad inside the device is pretty standard with a numeric pad, there are two keys for operating system menu and navigation control, a directional pad, send/end buttons, and three other buttons for device functionality. Above the screen are two additional buttons above the screen which are used by the operating system when the screen is turned and the operating system switches to landscape mode.

A Market for the N90
The Nokia N90 appears to me to have an interesting place in the cell phone market. For the most part, the device is a fairly standard cell phone, but when it comes to the camera part of the phone, there are a number of additional features. While the N90 may be considered just a camera phone too many people, I would actually consider the N90 to be hitting a niche market of users that actually want a good camera built in to their phone. I would not really consider the N90 just a cell phone with a camera built in, but close to being a cell phone and a camera. With services like Flickr and people using their phones more and more to take pictures to capture memories as opposed to just headshots, the N90 can fit a growing base of users that want to be able to have printable quality pictures come from their phone.

The Camera
When it comes to the camera features of the phone, Nokia has included quite a number of features, many of which are built around the design of the phone. Instead of building the camera into the back or face of the phone like with most camera phones, the camera is built into the hinge of the device so there is more space for the camera to be set in. The camera in the N90 uses Carl Zeiss Optics. For those that do not know about cameras, the name might not need anything, but Carl Zeiss Optics are used in many cameras including those made by Hasselblad and Sony. The lens is based on the Tessar lens product line which has been produced by Carl Zeiss for the last 80 years. The version in the Nokia N90 includes an f/2.9 maximum aperture in the 5.5mm lens. If you know about photography those statistic may mean something to you, to others, letï¿½s just say it is a good glass lens. The camera will shoot at up to two mega pixels. Also featured in the lens is autofocus. The N90ï¿½s camera can be used in two different ways. The first way to use it is with the phone closed. The camera simply needs to be swiveled and the outer screen will show an active image of what the camera is shooting. The record button will snap a picture and the directional pad on the outside of the device can be used to control camera functions like zoom and camera settings. This mode is great for quickly snapping a picture without having to even open the device. To stop using the camera, it just needs to be swiveled back. The other way is to open the phone then swivel the screen. Once the screen swivels, the camera will turn on. I really like this camera mode as it is very easy to hold,

Here is an example of some simple pictures taken with the N90. These are not full-sized images but are simply a cropped part of a two mega pixel image from the N90. You can click the images to see them at the full 1600 x 1200 resolution. Since most photos probably are not going to be taken under optimum lighting conditions, these aren't either. But these pictures are a lot better than any 1.3 megapixel camera phone or VGA camera phone by far.

Final Thoughts
The Nokia N90 is really my first in-depth look ever at a Nokia product. Back with cell phones were starting to become popular everyone always had Nokia products and they seemed to be the standard for cell phones. The N90 is an impressive product. Priced at around $400, it is not a cheap product, costing nearly as much as a PDA. Probably the bulk of this is because of its unique camera feature as well as the powerful hardware inside the device. It is a top notch product and the quality is easy to see when handling the product. But where I think the Nokia N90 falls short is when it actually comes to using the software. Personally, I don't think that the Symbian OS is as clear cut and intuitive as a platform like Windows Mobile. Specially I was disappoint with how the photo gallery was handle when that should be one of the most polished interfaces on the device. The Nokia N90 is a unique product and it is for a person that want a high quality camera built into their phone. Nokia has done a good job of pushing the bar of camera quality and again has brought a unique design to market with the N90.

Nokia 6120

At first glance, there doesn't seem to be anything very remarkable about Nokia's 6120 Classic. It's a fairly nondescript-looking candybar phone turned out in shiny black plastic offset with metallic trim. It looks like one of the mid-range workhorses that Nokia has always excelled at - solid, reliable, not terribly exciting but still capable of selling in huge quantities. But look just a little closer and this understated gem might just be one of the best phones the company has produced in ages - a Symbian smartphone for the masses, with tons of mobile know-how packed into its diminutive dimensions, and delivered at a sensible price. Little effort appears to have been spent on creating a fashion icon handset, though it's available in a choice of black, pearl white, pink and sand gold colourings. The keypad feels a touch plasticky, while the navigation-pad looks functional at best. Functional, however, is the key here - although the 6120 Classic seems to do everything it can to play down its abilities, it can certainly perform where it counts.

The 31 x 41mm screen is beautifully bright and clear, and carries 16 million colours - much more than the human eye can detect, but which reveals a beautifully smooth transition when watching video. It's a smartphone that runs on the Symbian S60 operating system, familiar from Nokia's more high-end N-series and E-series smartphones, and it offers plenty of scope for adding your own applications. This is a go-anywhere phone. As well as quad-band GSM connections, it also offers an HSDPA 3G connection. HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) is the latest, fastest variety of 3G and can offer data connections to the internet that are several times faster than standard 3G. So far it's available in the UK with T-Mobile, Vodafone and, imminently, 3 and no doubt it will join other UK operators' ranges too. There's a full internet browser as well as WAP access on board, and there's a tiny VGA camera on the front for video calling The VGA camera isn't the main picture-taking tool of course. There's a 2-megapixel version on the back with 4x digital zoom and a proper flash, accessed by a dedicated shutter button on the side. None of Nokia's fancy Carl Zeiss lens partnership here, but it's perfectly good for snaps, which generally came out sharp and clear with very little effort.

The options include a panorama mode which allows you to create wide angle views. You press and hold the shutter button, then move the camera to the left or right and it continues to add images to the original to create a panoramic image. It's clever, if a little clunky in practice, and while it wouldn't pass muster as a useful function for photographers, it is good fun.

The music player is solid without offering anything to make it stand out. It plays all the main audio formats, including MP3, WMA and eAAC Plus and the menu is easy to read and intuitive. There's a very basic five-option equaliser as well as bass boost and stereo widening options, plus a very weird reverb option, which offers a choice of echoey venues for your listening, including 'Alley', 'Bathroom', and 'Underwater' (??!!).

Other handy features include document readers in Quickoffice, so you can view Word, PowerPoint and Excel docs, as well as a PDF reader. Blackberry 9500 Storm

The final chapter of the Blackberry Storm review is here, on the previous chapters of this review we explored different aspects of the Blackberry Storm. In this last chapter we will give our final focus, the summary and what exactly we think about this device.

The Storm has a bad reputation, most people think it is ''not that good'', it's a ''rumor'' that keeps running from mouth to mouth. But we believe the exact opposite, the Blackberry Storm we had, performed excellently.

The device is just solid, not only literally because of its excellent build quality but also its OS performance, it's one of the most balanced OS we ever used. It has everything it needs: easy to use, perfect balance between eye-candy transitions and real usability, and most important of all, a powerful intuitive OS. Some complicated tasks such as configuring an e-mail account are really easy to complete on the Storm.

We also loved the ability of the Storm to be multimedia-ready out-of-the-box, the 8GB memory card and the headset bundled let the user utilise the Storm as a main multimedia device right after buying it. The 3.5mm audio jack lets a user plug any pair of headset one normally uses and the music player has multiple equalizer options. All in all, music experience is great.

The Storm also lets the user easily configure any Bluetooth headset. The video playback on the Storm is also very nice because of the size of the screen, the 3.25 inches are more than enough to watch a full movie.

The Browser in the Storm is generally good, the Storm renders web pages just like a computer does. For really small links the Storm has a cursor mode, which makes it very easy to click on really small elements on web sites. The browser does not support Flash unfortunately, and it also freezes for some time while the page is loading. Generally it is a good web browser but there are better ones, such as the S60 Browser on Nokia phones for example.

The Storm has a pretty fast 3G connectivity, YouTube videos don't freeze and the pages render pretty fast, the only feature that the Storm needs is Wi-Fi, but for some unknown reason it is not there.

The clickable screen system has definitively been a huge success, some people have problems with the clickable screen but generally on most of the devices it works pretty well. RIM achieved what is the hardest part on the process, the user approval. People like this new clickable screen, as soon as they try it. The keyboard is standard, a good keyboard but nothing special, physical QWERTY keyboards are still a better option for heavy texters.

To prove and achieve a conclusion on the Storm I wish to add the opinion of a person who is not a phone-savvy person, just someone who uses an average phone but is a potential future user of smartphones. I did a small test with our Blackberry Storm, I lent it to a friend for an entire day, the only condition was that he had to tell me exactly what he thought about the device at the end of the day. At the end of the day he told me exactly what he thought about the device:

''First of all, I love the design. The Storm is a really good-looking device. The clickable screen is also awesome because it lets me press that little thing on the screen and be sure of pressing it before attempting to. I also like the way the menu is organized, the black boxes look awesome and is very easy to find what I am looking for. I love watching YouTube videos on the Storm, the screen is very good for that purpose. Bad thing is that the battery has been going down very quickly but is probably because I haven't stop using it. I think is a great device, there is no way to go wrong with the Storm''

Generally he gave positive feedback, he was concerned because of the battery. All I have to say for the battery is that it will last one day, but is imperative to charge the Storm every night to use it the next day.

In conclusion the Storm is a good device, I was impressed by its performance, as my friend who is not a tech-savvy person said ''There is no way to go wrong with the Storm''.

Nokia 2710 navigation

Mobile phone navigation has just changed forever with the announcement of the Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition. With Nokia Maps pre-loaded, along with local maps for the region it’s on sale in, this is the most affordable navigation device ever to come out of Nokia. With an estimated retail price starting at €110 navigation has never been so affordable. This device is aimed at the developing world, but that isn’t to say it won’t be making an appearance in the developed world either. Thanks to the on board GPS and digital compass, this device is as at home in the city as it is in the country. On board maps are accompanied by turn-by-turn driving navigation with full voice guidance. In selected countries, the device will ship with local maps, stored on an included 2GB memory card, so users won’t even have to go online to access maps.
The Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition will also come with a car charger and a car cradle (pictured above) along with a lifetime navigation license. The GPRS handset boast a 2.2-inch screen, 2-megapixel camera and enough storage for 1,000 phonebook entries. It also sports Ovi Mail and Instant Messaging and it’ll keep the tunes turning with an MP3 player and FM radio. It also has a 3.5mm AV connector. The device will go for up to 18 days between charges in standby mode and will give up to four hours and 20 minutes talk time.

Expected to ship in the second quarter of 2010, the device will retail for an estimated €110.

LG's pico projector

LG's pico projector-packing WinMo eXpo outed for AT&T

Hey -- what's that? Oh right, it's the LG eXpo, the slider with a pico projector jammed inside. Among other things, the full QWERTY slider's packing a 1GHz CPU, a 3.2-inch touchscreen, a 5 megapixel camera, a microSD slot, and of course that removable Texas Instruments projector. The just-announced handset bears quite a strong resemblance to the Monaco we heard about way back in May -- though from the looks of it, its lost all of the brassiness we were so fond of. The eXpo runs Windows Mobile 6.5, and it will hit AT&T on December 7th for $199 after a mail in rebate with a two year contract -- plus an additional $179 should you choose to opt in on that projector.

Today LG and AT&T introduced a new Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone, the eXpo. The device's defining feature is a removable Texas Instruments DLP pico projector, which can be used to share movies...er...PowerPoint Presentations when on the road.

This is an interesting device. Pico projectors are nothing new, but we have yet to see them become widely available on mobile phones, especially in the U.S. That the pico projector is detachable is nice, because according to the photos I've seen, it adds significant bulk to the eXpo. The projector weighs in at 1.8 ounces and is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, and can project content a distance as far as eight feet. You're not going to be sharing movies drive-in style at the office...yet.

The eXpo comes with the usual set of smartphone specs. It runs WIndows Mobile 6.5 professional and has a 3.2-inch touch display. It is a sideways slider that has a full QWERTY keyboard for messaging. It comes with dedicated buttons to launch applications such as the browser.

Other stats include a 5 megapixel camera with flash and video capture. It supports microSD cards up to 16GB, and includes GPS.

As if the pico projector isn't enough temptation for you, the eXpo also brings another unique feature: a fingerprint sensor. AuthenTec has been making fingerprint sensors for ages, but this is the first time I've seen one on a device released to the U.S. market. The fingerprint swipe sensor should please enterprise IT admins, as it provides a whole new level of security for the device. The sensor also doubles as a navigation control, allowing users to move the cursor about the screen as if it were a mouse.

The last interesting tidbit of info about the eXpo is that it will support AT&T's 7.2Mbps HSPA 3G technology when it becomes available in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Miami later this year.

Nokia 1661

Providing a similar feature set to the Nokia 1209, Nokia's 1661 improves on its baby brother with a better quality display, a much thinner design and an FM radio. However, the smaller form factor comes at the cost of keypad size.

The Nokia 1661 mobile phone is much thinner than the Nokia 1209, so it slides easily into a pocket. At first glance, it's easy to mistake the Nokia 1661 for a more expensive mobile phone — the glossy black front fascia surrounding the display and keypad certainly looks the part, and the silver edging on the navigational pad is a nice touch. The red edging and grey back cover are bland, though, and the cover does creak slightly when pressed in certain areas, which raises some questions about its build quality. At this price, however, it's not a huge issue.

Unfortunately, the smaller size of the Nokia 1661 has resulted in a smaller keypad, which has thin and flat keys. The keys are separated by raised lines, but it feels a little cramped when composing text messages. Also hindering the use of this phone is the inclusion of a four-way navigational pad instead of the more common five-way version. This means the left selection key is used to choose items in the menu, so the controls take some time to grasp.

The Nokia 1661's display is larger and has a higher resolution than the Nokia 1209's, so it's easier to use. The screen still possesses poor viewing angles and can be hard to see in sunlight, but it isn't narrow and therefore displays more lines of text. The increased screen size also means a standard grid layout can be used for the main menu, and a simple list format for most of the submenus.

The features of the Nokia 1661 are fairly basic, with the standout feature being the FM radio. It also offers SMS messaging with T9 predictive text input (but no e-mail or MMS capabilities), a basic phonebook, a call register, and a few handy PIM functions such as an alarm clock, calculator, converter, spreadsheet, reminders, countdown timer, calendar and stopwatch. The flashlight at the top of the handset — activated by holding up on the directional pad — and the polyphonic ring tone composer are nice inclusions.

Like the Nokia 1209, the Nokia 1661's call quality is solid but not outstanding. Volume could have been a little louder, and it is difficult to hear if there is any background noise. Thankfully, our callers didn't complain about the outgoing sound, suggesting the microphone is of good quality. Nokia has announced that, for this year's Consumer Electronics Show, it plans to include the showcasing of a wide portfolio of mobile devices, among which the coveted Nokia N97 mobile computer, along with the award-winning Nokia E71 and a series of new products that are meant for the North American market.

The stylish, functional and impressive converged Nokia N97 mobile computer is stated to also make its debut on the US market at CES 2009. Other devices announced for demonstration at the show include the Nokia 1006, Nokia 7510 and Nokia E63, also set for release on the market in North America.

Nokia 1006 is the latest CDMA device offered for AWS carriers and is reported to have been developed in the company's San Diego product creation center. It features an ergonomic design and offers convenience while on the go. It comes with a large, bright color display, voice memo, speakerphone, as well as a phonebook capable of holding 500 entries. The new curved sleek device will be made available in blue and silver.

Nokia 3120 Classic

With Nokia writing the mobile headlines with its trailblazing uber Nseries 'multimedia computers' it's sometimes easy to overlook its so called lesser models in the melee to grab one of its powerful elite smartphones.

We shouldn't forget the Finnish giant built its numero uno manufacturer rep on easy-to-use bread and butter blowers and the 3120 Classic is a prime example of Nokia's uncanny knack for rolling out well groomed everyman handsets.

In fairness, the 3120 Classic has lot more to offer than just the basic 'bread and butter' talk and texter, punching around the lower mid-range level with a tidy set of features including original flavoured 3G download speeds, microSD card slot, built-in music player and FM radio plus a two-megapixel camera complete with LED flash.

Like its fellow Classic clan members, the 3120's design is clean and uncluttered, if a little unremarkable, although its rounded tapered bottom makes it more elegant than some of its more rigid stablemates.

At 13.4mm thick and a nimble 85 grams, the 3120 is also very trim and lightweight, slipping easily and unnoticed into the pocket. Naturally, for a phone of this ranking there is a little creak and groan of plastic but the 3120 is, in general, soundly built.

The 3120 is clearly drunk on Nokia's famed user friendliness. Your thumbs will love the spacious keypad and sturdy joypad and it's brilliantly geared for speed texting. Similarly, the Symbian S40 UI is intuitive to work through with the homescreen highly customisable.

An exhaustive amount of popular functions (57 was the last count) can be added to the shortcut bar while there's even space below this carousel for three other features like calendar, appointments and web search.

Of course, if you want your homescreen free for photo wallpapering then you can just deactivate the shortcuts. To round off this personalisation party, the two soft keys can be customised to pretty much whatever function you desire.

With maximum 384Kbps 3G speeds onboard, web browsing is pretty nippy. It's made easier by the preloaded Opera Mini web browser that probably ranks as one of the better mobile browsers on the scene. It brilliantly repackages full fat web pages to load quickly and neatly fit smaller screens and with the 3120 only sporting a bright but average-sized QVGA-quality 2-inch display, its skills are very welcome.

If you don't know your outgoing server deets or proxy settings from your elbow then setting up email accounts can be a pain in the proverbial. Thankfully, the 3120 does all that tricky donkey work for you and setting up your personal POP and IMAP email client is a breeze. After we gave up our email address and password, our Google Gmail account was up and running in a flash.
The 3120's basic two-megapixel snapper is only really good enough for MMS, blogging and wallpapering. With no dedicated shutter key you'll have to set one of the soft keys to fire up the camera and keen snappers may be disappointed, but unsurprised, by a lack of autofocus.
If you like to play Mr. Tinkerman it does offer a sprinkling of photos modes including picture effects, brightness levels, self timer and a rather crude LED flash but really we wouldn't bother. Its video capturing capabilities are equally feeble, shooting in a maximum resolution of 352x288 pixels at 15fps.

The built-in music player and FM radio are decent performers and probably the best features on the 3120. Unfortunately we weren't able to really gauge the music player's true sonic talents because, criminally, no stereo headphones were bundled with the phone. If you want to hook up a pair via the 2.5mm socket then you'll have to visit the Nokia shop and shell out 15 quid for a pair of HS-47 earphones.

But overlook the headphone headache and the music player seems very capable with simple access to all of your tunes via the standard playlist, artists, albums, genres arrangement. A seven-strong equaliser, including two customisable settings, gives you options to funk up the audio while support for A2DP stereo Bluetooth means you can stream your music wirelessly via a compatible set of headphones or speakers.

The 3120 Classic brilliantly keeps up Nokia's winning tradition of solid 3G handsets like the 6233, 6151 and 6120 Classic. Not everyone craves the latest and greatest whizz-bang mobile innovations, so if you're in the market for a dependable, user-friendly but sleek 3G blower with a smattering of cool mobile features then the 3120 Classic definitely has your name on it.

Nokia 3110 classic

Back in April I reviewed Nokia’s 6300 and was impressed with its simplicity, clean lines and usability. Now comes the 3110 classic, a tri-band handset with GPRS, EDGE and HSCSD. As I wrote this review the 3110 classic was available on Orange from free. None of the other major operators were listing it, but check when you read this for wider availability.

As the ‘classic’ in its name implies this is another attempt by Nokia at a straightforward, no-nonsense mobile phone. It takes much of what was good about the 6300 and builds it into a handset with a basic set of specifications that are sometimes below what the 6300 offered, sometimes above it.

That isn’t to say this handset isn’t without its surprises. The FM radio, for example, is a very welcome feature in a budget phone, and one that that Nokia should build into every mobile it produces. As soon as it came out of the box this looked like a handset I could live with. Styled in black with a couple of silver flourishes it is understated and not the kind of phone that shouts ‘steal me!’ whenever it is brought out for use. Sized at 108.5 mm tall, x 45.7mm wide and 15.6 mm thick it feels comfortable in the hand and at 87g it is no problem for the pocket.

Nokia has decided to prioritise the keys over the display and the latter is pretty small. I measured it at 1.7 inches corner to corner. Its 128 x 160 pixels are pretty rudimentary and the screen doesn’t have the definition that many other handsets offer. The 262,000 colours are welcome though, and the screen is bright enough to read outdoors.

Immediately beneath the screen enclosed in a lozenge shape are some familiar buttons. A navigation ring with central select button sits in the middle. The button itself is huge, the ring smaller but raised nicely from its surroundings so that using it is very easy. To its left and right are selection keys and Call and End keys. Those keys aren’t especially large, but the number keys are by comparison, massive. Usefully, the number keys are backlight, brilliant white when in use. Side keys don’t amount to much. There are volume controls on the upper right edge and that’s it.

All in all the screen/keys compromise may please the stubby fingered but irritate those who like screen intensive activities like web browsing, though having said that using the browser is not much fun.

Now, just like the 6300 I mentioned earlier, the 3110 classic runs Symbian’s S40 operating system. What this means is that while you don’t get the amazing range of applications and capabilities built in that S60 handsets offer there may be enough here to keep you happy.
Besides what I’ve already mentioned, Bluetooth and infra red are built in, there is a calendar, a todo list manager, an alarm clock, a notes application, calculator, timer, stopwatch and voice recorder. The messaging centre includes POP email support, and this handset plays music.

Nokia 3109

Sitting here thinking about the Nokia 3109 Classic makes us think hard, the reason for this is because the Nokia 3109 Classic is well balanced in one sense, but then in another is missing a few things that should not be missing. The things that are missing which are also shown below and of which is a major flaw is there is NO camera (oops).

But then on the other hand this is a very good phone for those who do not care about a camera, the Nokia 3109 is good for office use as well because it features email with attachments plus synchronizes calendars and to-do lists with personal computers through its USB connection. The Nokia 2760 is yet another basic, yet solid phone offered by T-Mobile. While it isn’t overlade with features, it does provide everything that one has come to expect from an affordable, Nokia phone. For the price, around $20, the Nokia 2760 can not be beat for the features and quality that it does deliver. It provides great call quality and has some of the most user-friendly controls on the market. While it is far from perfect, the Nokia 2760 is a great value for the price.

Nokia is no slouch when it comes to designing high-end cell phones, but the company's bread and butter remains simple handsets for making calls. That's where Nokia got its start, and that's where its focus remains for developing markets. The new Nokia 2600 for AT&T fits this mold perfectly. Though it offers a VGA camera and Bluetooth, this handset is all about communication. The design is simple and intuitive and the call quality is serviceable, but the phone's molasses-like menu interface was frustrating. The Nokia 2600 is $150 if you pay full price, but it's free with a service contract.

Design
The 2600 is a standard Nokia candy bar phone that's a salute to minimalism. It is clad in basic black with just an orange ring around the center column of keys to give it some individuality. The lines are straight and clean, but its tapered edges are a nice touch. The 2600 is 4.21 inches long by 1.84 inches wide by 0.79 inch thick and weighs 3.17 ounces. It is compact and portable, but the plastic skin feels rather flimsy.

The display measures 1.5 inches wide and supports 65,000 colors (128x128 pixels). Though that's a low-resolution display when compared with most other current cell phones, it's fitting for such a low-end phone. Graphics and photos aren't sharp, but colors are relatively bright and the screen isn't washed out. What's more, the icon-based menus are intuitive. You can change the standby mode font color and the font size and activate a power-saver mode.

The 2600's navigation array consists of a square silver toggle with a black OK button. Though it is decently sized and raised above the surface of the phone, it's also a bit slippery with a plastic feel. It didn't present us with any problems, though, and you can set the toggle to act as shortcut to four user-defined functions. Two soft keys and the Talk and End/power buttons complete the array. They have a spacious layout as well but they're flush and equally slippery. Also, we'd like a dedicated back key and a camera shortcut.

The keypad buttons are hit and miss. They didn't feel cramped, but they aren't very tactile. Similarly, while we like that the central column of keys is colored in gray, the backlighting could be brighter. We didn't suffer from any misdials, but rapid texting did feel awkward.
Like T-Mobile's recent Nokia 1680, the 2600 doesn't have a dedicated volume rocker, which means you must use the toggle to change the volume level during a call. That's rather inconvenient. On the right spine, you'll find the charger port and a 2.5mm headset jack. The camera lens and mirror rest on the phone's backside above the single speaker.

Features
The 2600 has a tiny, 200-contact phone book with room in each entry for five phone numbers, an e-mail address, a URL, a company name and job title, a formal name and nickname, a street address, a birthday, and notes. You can pair contacts with a photo and save them to caller groups, but only groups can be assigned one of the eight polyphonic ringtones.

The 2600 has a solidly low-end feature set, but it does include Bluetooth. There's no stereo profile, which really isn't needed on such a basic phone, but you can use Bluetooth to send files. Other features include a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, a voice recorder, an alarm clock, a calendar, a to-do list, a notepad, a timer, and a stopwatch. You'll also find trial applications for Mobile Banking, WikiMobile, and My-Cast Weather.

The 2600's camera has a self-portrait mirror but no flash.

The VGA camera takes pictures in three resolutions (640x480, 320x240, and 160x120) and three quality settings. Other features include a digital zoom, a night mode, a self-timer, and a multishot option. It's a slim assortment of offerings, to be sure, but appropriate for a handset with a VGA camera. Photo quality is good for a VGA camera. Colors were relatively bright and there was minimal noise. On the other hand, you'll need adequate light since the 2600 doesn't offer a flash.

The 2600 has decent photo quality.

The camcorder is as basic as can be. It doesn't offer any editing options beyond a choice of clip length. Videos meant for multimedia messages are capped at 9 seconds; otherwise, you can shoot for longer periods in normal mode. Video was about what you'd expect from a VGA camera, which is to say pretty bad. The 2600 has about 10MB of user-accessible memory.
You can personalize the 2600 with a variety of wallpaper, screensavers, and themes. You can download more options and additional ringtones, from AT&T. The 2600 comes with demo versions of three games--Bubble Bash, Tetris, and Ms. Pac Man--but you can buy the full versions and additional titles.

PerformanceWe tested the dual-band (GSM 850/1900; GPRS) Nokia 2600 in San Francisco using AT&T service. Please note that as a dual-band phone, the 2600 will not work outside of North America. Call quality was decent--not spectacular but not bad either. The signal was clear and strong, and voices sounded relatively natural. The volume could be a bit louder, but the phone performed well for what it is.

On their end, callers said we sounded fine, though a few reported that the 2600 picked up an excessive amount of background noise. Even on our end, we had some trouble hearing the phone conversation in very noise environments. Similarly, automated calling systems could understand only when we spoke in a quiet place. Speakerphone calls were just OK. Since the speaker faces the rear of the phone, you should place the phone upside down for the best experience. But even then, the audio is muffled at the highest volume levels. Bluetooth headset calls were satisfactory.
Yet, we had more issues with the phone's painfully slow menu interface. When opening the main menu and when selecting certain features, we had to wait as long as 3 seconds for something to happen. It was not something we were expecting on such a basic phone and it definitely diminished our experience. Before we got used to it, we impatiently would press the OK button several times.

The 2600 has a rated battery life of 3 hours talk and 16 days standby time. We were quite impressed with the tested talk time of 11 hours and 54 minutes. According to FCC radiation tests, the 2600 has a digital SAR of 1.43 per kilogram.

The Nokia 1650 is a good phone for those looking for something simple, just to make calls. It's cheap, it's robust, and it's easy to use. In addition, it has a built-in FM radio and can be used as a torch. One-touch shortcut keys make it easy to access these functions. It also includes 3 games, and you can customise the ringtones with MP3 tones. For the money, what more can you expect? Some users have, however, reported that the phone sometimes freezes or randomly switches off.

You might consider the Nokia 2310 if you want something cheaper, or the Nokia 3109 Classic if you don't mind spending a bit more.

Nokia has announced two new models, the Nokia 2600 Classic and the Nokia 1209. These two entry-level models are targeted at emerging markets.

The Nokia 2600 Classic supports MP3 ringtones and can be customized to user's whims with Nokia's vivid, fully changeable Xpress-On covers. It supports up to a 1000 phone book entries with support for SMS, MMS, and email via GPRS. It sports a 56K color TFT with a resolution of 128x160 pixels and a 5-way navigation key for extended durability. Other remarkable features are Java support, FM radio, a VGA camera which can record video at 640x480 pixels, support for 80 languages, and an expense manager. The Nokia 2600 Classic is already available at approximately $94.

The Nokia 1209 on the other hand is aimed at first-time cell phone buyers with features such as prepaid tracker, cost management applications, and multiple phones, allowing up to five users to use the same cell phone with up to 200 entries per phone book. This is in response to a recent survey conducted by the Finnish manufacturer in countries such as India, China, and Brazil. The Nokia 1209 will be available during the second quarter of 2008 at a low price of around $50.

The Sony Ericsson C901 will be a candybar style handset with 2.2 inch screen.
